    Working Principle

    The 1N4007 is a PN junction that allows current in one direction only. Under forward bias, it conducts with ~0.7–1.1 V drop. Under reverse bias, it blocks current until breakdown near its VRRM (1000 V). This one-way behavior enables efficient AC-to-DC rectification.

    How to Test a 1N4007 with a Multimeter

    1. Set the meter to Diode Test mode.
    2. Red probe to Anode, black to Cathode → reading ~0.6–0.7 V (forward drop).
    3. Reverse the probes → meter shows OL (no conduction).

    If it conducts both ways, the diode is shorted; if it shows OL both ways, it's open-replace it.
